Input
1-Select unit system. Either Metric or Imperial units can be selected in ORWA.
2-Define Dip and Dip Direction of Joint Sets 1, 2, Upper Slope and Face Slope
3-Define strength (Cohesion and Friction Angle) of Joint Sets 1 and 2.
4-Define slope height, unit weight as well as bench width. The Slope Height is the vertical distance between the bottom of the wedge and crest on Joint Set 1. The Bench Width is defined as the perpendicular distance from the CREST of the slope, to the rearmost wedge vertex, on the Upper Slope
5-Define Dip, Dip Direction and trace length of tension crack. The Trace Length of the Tension Crack is the distance of the tension crack from the crest, measured along the trace of Joint Set 1.
Note: You need to press "Calculate" button or press Enter whenever input data is entered or changed in ORWA to recalculate the Factor of Safety.
Output
1-ORWA computes the factor of safety for a specific wedge for known input parameters(e.g. wedge plane orientations, shear strength, etc)
2-ORWA provides a 3-dimensional Perspective view of the rock wedge and slope. The 3D View is displayed by default when you perform new calculates. The rock wedge can be rotated for viewing at any angle. Keep the left mouse button pressed, and move the cursor around to rotate the model. You can also use left, right, up and down navigation button to rotate the model
Report
ORWA offers a summary of input and output parameters as well as 3D view in pdf format. By clicking on "Report" button you will be able to save the report in your local machine.

ORWA is a free web-based program for evaluating the geometry and stability of surface wedges defined by two intersecting discontinuity planes and a slope surface. This Program has been rewritten by java, html as well as php to make it available directly from the internet.
ORWA is non-commercial and free to use. If you have questions or comments, please contact me at roozbehg@live.com. Visit my personal web page to find out about the other free programs/codes or my experiences and research interests.
